Avoid these at all costs. First of all, the ear padding comes off very easily and it’s a pain to put it back on (This happens quite frequently, even while gently removing them from your head). Second of all, the headband broke on one side and now the headphones will slide down my head, even after attempting to tape it. Last but not least, after a couple months the Center speakers stopped working on the headphones, leaving me with poorer sound quality.
Avoid these headphones. I’m looking around now for replacements (these were a gift from a relative).

So as others have said, these are great sounding headphones but they are prone to breaking due to poor design. The speaker section of mine broke off of at the point where they connect to the headband. There also seems to be something rattling around inside one of the speakers.

I got these headphones at a local Fry’s and enjoyed them for 2 and 1/2 months. I took good care of them, but they broke anyway, in the same place everyone else is having problems with–the rotating joint. Now they won’t stay on the ear and are useless. I expected better from a pair of $60 headphones.

I’ve had these headphones for about a year and use them frequently for gaming. The sound quality is excellent and the different channels all have independently-adjustable volume. They do lack a mute switch for the microphone which is a big oversight. Also the headphones exert a lot of inward pressure on your head which makes it hurt to wear them for longer than a couple of hours.
The real problem though is the build quality: after about 3 or 4 months the foam ear covering on the right side became completely detached and there’s no easy way to reattach it. Fortunately because of that inward pressure it did stay in place. After about 10 months the plastic above one of the headphones cracked, exposing a very small and fragile-looking wire that will probably fail in a few more months. It’s a shame because they sound nice and the mic works well, just very shoddy construction.

Pros:
Light, very good sound quality, cheap, microphone is very good quality, inline volume & mic mute controls.
Cons:
Become uncomfortable after a few hours, microphone swivel inst quite as tight as it should be, so the boom arm tends to sag.
Overall:
I would recommend this as a starter headset for someone interested in competitive gaming, or for someone who goes to LAN’s

Well I don’t know where to begin I purchased this headset to use with my xbox 360 via astro Mix amp. I know what your thinking “why the hell are you using a $30 headset with a $130 amp?” but it is because I have been through many different headsets and configurations. Either the headsets I buy are uncomfortable or the mic is too poor. This headset gets a A in comfort and has proven to be the best mic I have tried on the 360 to date.
Now my gripes are that this headset has a wide birth thanks to the fold up design that just looks stupid on a more close cropped head. I guess I can live with that fact for the plus of having them fold up nicely. The sound is a bit low without a amp. Nothing amazing with the ear pads but they have a nice cushion so the headset is very comfortable and light. The lows are not as tight as I would want, the mids and highs are average.
If it wasn’t for the price factor I might have sent them back but thanks to the mic and portability I am sure I will keep them around.
Pro’s
-Best mic I ever used on the 360
-Portability
-In-line controls & Velcro strap
-Light & Comfortable
-Long boom mic
-Price
Con’s
-Ugly styling
-tad underpowered if you have a weak source
-Muddled low and highs

There’s constant distortion that can be heard all the time and sometimes it just freaks out and blasts my ears with a painful high pitched squeal. I’m sure these are just defective, but it doesn’t make me any happier about the product currently.
Also I need to beat up the seller, eXpansys, Inc., a little bit because they only allow returns/exchanges through them within 15 days. Gotta read that fine print, I guess. Trying to go through Turtle Beach itself for an exchange, we’ll see how this goes.
If they exchange with little hassle I’ll change this review to a 4 out of 5, otherwise I’ll reduce it to a 1 out of 5.

I shopped around for 5.1 headphones for quite sometime before deciding on these. They seemed to be the best from a design standpoint, and I’ve been extremely happy with my purchase. I completely avoided USB 5.1 headphones since they bypass any soundcard you may have in your system. I wanted something that I could use on a decent sound card for high quality 5.1 experience. Having the line splitter included with these headphones is genius, and speaks well to Turtle Beaches customer centric design. These don’t make any compromises in my opinion. The cords are plenty long, and the in-line amp/volume pod is perfectly placed to allow you to have it on the desk and not dangling in the way.
These headphones are awesome, and have incredible sound quality. The bass is awesome, the highs are fantastic, and the positioning of sounds is superb.
I use these pretty much exclusively on my PC now for gaming as well as music. But having the speakers still be an option really make this product the best.

I have been looking for a comfortable headset with good sound and good noise canceling mic for a long time. This is the closest I have come yet. The headset is very comfortable which is important since I have it on for 4 to 6 hours at a time sometimes. the sound is awesome and many times i do not hear the surrounding environment which is a plus. The only place this has failed for me is in the Mic itself. When I am gaming and using Skype the other hear everything from my home. My dogs tags in the next room , voices in other rooms and more. I am experimenting with trying to adjust the sensitivity in the programs but so far even at the lowest setting other sounds are picked up. Since everything else about these is top notch I would recommend them to anyone unless they are very particular about the mic not picking up any other sounds other than their voice. Overall this has been a wonderful product.

The HPA2 is a decent headset for the price.
PROS – Detachable mic, I love this option.
Good speaker quality.
Sleek look and solid feel. Most of the parts are metal and sturdy.
Detachable wires, good if you have to move your tower and don’t want to unplug the wires.
As other have said, these do fit snug, but they are definitely comfortable over a long period.
CONS – Bulky. I guess its to be expected with 4 wires and a USB cable.
5.1 setup takes a lot of tweaking, but that isn’t the headphones fault.
There is some static when no sound is playing. It’s barely audible and besides, who uses headphones when they’re not playing sounds?
USB powered isn’t really a con I guess, but now I’m short another slot.
They work good with my ancient cheap X-FI sound blaster. Note that the black cable on these phones should be plugged into the grey/light blue jack on the sound blaster card. The other colors match.

Bought as a gift but on receipt find we have a gamer set of headphones, I wanted something more for use on a home TV or such to keep from disturbing a parent or whomever. So it sits UNOPENED. No idea what its fidelity is, I already have 2 conventional but wired headphones…..
SO
Is this THING suitable for halfway decent autio? Or games only, ie BANG CRASH SHAZAM KILL KILL KILL and EXPLOSION right or left probably is not enouogh fidelity….
Yeah Maybe a refund WOULD be nice!

Overall I like the headphones, but mostly because they are wireless and work with the Wii. I have no major complaints with the sound and it’s adequate for what I use them for (casual gaming). I like the on/off switch and the volume control, which are both on the headset. My one complaint is that my ears get tired/sore after having them on for an hour or so and normally when I finally get a chance to play I play for a couple of hours so I generally come away with sore ears when using them. The soreness goes away after a 1/2 hour or so of not wearing them, but the design needs to be improved for a more comfortable fit.

THese headphones are great and I was able to use them for the Wii or for the television alone with another cable. Only draw back is that you can’t go very far away from the red lights of the transmitter. FOr kids playing games, that isn’t a problem.

Excellent sound and a good value. One caveat: if you connect your 360 via HDMI, you may have to get an extra cable to make it work. the easier option Is to check if your TV has Audio Out red and white outputs, if it does, you’re golden, setup will take 2 mins., tops.

Well, my dang dog ate my stock headset that came with my Xbox. So, after days of research, I bought the Turtle Beach X11. Honestly, I love them. I haven’t heard hissing or feedback. The voice chat is clean and reliable. Everyone I’ve talked to can hear me fine with no echo. The fact that you can hear yourself is great so you know how you sound over the mic but it isn’t overwhelming. Here is my two cents about the headset.
Sound/Gameplay
The Sound is great. Not epic, just really good. I was expecting just alittle better quality, not that it’s bad, but expected surround sound quality but these are not surround sound headphones and are $100+ cheaper. I do wish that these had the effects like the X31 (Extra Bass/Ninja Mode/ect). Overall, the sound is still awesome. You can definetly hear stuff that you never would through your TV speakers.
Fit/Comfort
I don’t play for hours on end, I have a life. But I’ll get down for 1-3 hours at a time. So far, I forget I’m wearing them at times. They are very comfortable and they don’t fall off, even if I jiggle my head intentionally, they stay on and are solid. They fit perfectly around my ears, which are average size with 00 plugs. I don’t feel pressure from them being too tight.
Cords/Wires
Ahh yes, the cords=) It isn’t an issue for me. I was going to buy the X31(cordless) but for $50 extra including rechargeable batteries, I got the X11s. The chords like 10+ feet and easy to hid behind the TV. They come with velcro and easily manageable. Again, not an issue for me but I can see how it can be for others. The cord from the headset does come down to a receiver that controls both game volume, chat volume and mic on and off which is nice.
Design & Headphones Themselves
To me, they don’t feel that cheap like everyone says. What, do you want carbon fiber and titanium reinforcement bars running though it? A roll cage? The headphones are sick and my fav color; white. Easy setup, took me like 2-3 minutes but don’t forget to follow instructions and adjust your Xbox options.
Overall, I think this is a bang for your buck for around $50. If you want the boost of effects and the cordless design, pick up the X31 but remember to get rechargable batteries as from what I read, you’ll go through them weekly. Cheers!
